How to Style Plaid for the Holidays with Katelyn Now

Tis the season of festive wear and today my blogger boo Katelyn of Katelyn Now and I are sharing two ways to style plaid for the holidays!

Plaid seems to be having a moment and is getting all glammed up for the holidays. Iโ€™ll confess to not having much plaid in my closet to begin with, except for the random cozy flannel. So trying to think of ways to jazz up a print without looking like I stepped out of a holiday ad presented a challenge. Thankfully we came across this plaid midi skirt that was both the perfect shade of holiday red and winter white.

Katelyn looks absolutely darling and I love how she paired the black and white print with a fuzzy baby blue sweater. It provides just the right amount of contrast and after adding on some sparkly jewels {LOVE how she wore a chunky bracelet over the sleeve of her sweater} sheโ€™s got a cozy-chic look perfect for dinner with family or a casual holiday office party.

As for me, I thought – what pairs perfectly with plaid? Stripes, obviously! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™m kidding, pairing plaid with stripes was not the first thing that popped into my head. But wearing a crop top was. Because the skirt has such a high waist and a long hem, I thought a play on proportion would be a clever way to style it.

{And for those of you coming to the Barbour event tomorrow night, you may be seeing this look IRL *wink*}

I added golden accessories and my staple faux fur stole for some extra luxe. And voila! A holiday-ready look for any occasion.

Now Iโ€™d love to hear from you! How would you style plaid for the holidays?

  1. Oh my word, I’m gushing over the fur + stripes + plaid. I had no idea that the little fur half scarf type things I’ve been seeing around are called stoles! Now I know ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. You both look awesome but I’m really digging the pattern mixing. Striped + plaid = forever. I try to style my plaid up with some sequins or denim. Just whatever the day calls for!

  3. LOVE your take on plaid with stripes!! Enjoying your style in general. I’m sff to follow you on Instagram now :)
