brand market chicago + life realizations

This past Saturday I attended the Brand Market workshop in Chicago and if I’m going to be honest – I geeked out hard.

While I always take something away from any blogger conference, a lot of times I feel as if we only scratch the surface of things. But with the Brand Market we got down and dirty from the get go.

In all my years of schooling, I have never furiously scribbled notes as much as I did during this workshop. There was so much goodness to take away.

Our host Anna was so wise and kindhearted, I loved the honest and relatable approach to her branding, it’s something I’d like to emulate here on KATNP. And her knowledge on social media was incredible.

While I learned something from everyone, I have to say Mandy was my favorite! I loved her upfront and realistic personality. She offered wonderful insight on all things branding, marketing, social media, and life. I appreciated her frank advice on having a heart to heart with yourself to figure out what you can bear, what you’re willing to sacrifice, and what your expectations are for your business. I honestly could’ve listened to her talk all day.

Of course I can’t forget all our guest speakers: First was Matthew, who had an incredible story of how his business organically grew. My biggest takeaways from him – make positivity, don’t take shortcuts, and no matter how far you get – always keep improving.

Ari opened my eyes to what goes into a complete brand design and why it all matters. The answer: branding matters because it communicates trust to your audience.

Finally, Jess talked how marketing is the oxygen of your business. I especially appreciated her Hunger Games analogy and in depth look at how to connect with your audience, bloggers, and brands – handout & meet n’ greet exercise included!

As I said, I was geeking out all day so by the time I got home my head was buzzing.

Throughout the day I had several aha moments which coincidently collided into one big life realization:

I love my blog and I love creating content.

Though I’ve gone through a lot of highs and lows with blogging, KATNP has been a consistent part of my life for almost 3 years now.

And I’m so grateful for it.

I was discussing this with DCT and I was surprised to find myself getting emotional and even started crying.

This past year has been filled with a lot of distractions that have kept me from focusing on what I love and what I’m passionate about.

And though my mind keeps telling me how irrational I’m being to pursue this dream, my heart keeps pulling me back.

I know this all sounds extremely vague – it still doesn’t make complete sense in my own head.

But I do know this – bigger and better things are coming for Kinks are the new Pink.

And I couldn’t be more thrilled, blessed, and overjoyed for it all.

I want to thank you for your continued support & love whether you’ve been following along since the beginning or just recently stumbled upon me.

And thanks again to Anna & Mandy for inspiring, motivating, and giving me the tools to take the next steps.

Here’s to following your passions and living a life you love.

Thanks for reading.
