As spring draws closer, I can feel a great exhale of relief as we all begin to shed our winter layers transitioning our heavily insulated feather-down coats and wool jackets to light-weight parkas and cool cardigans. I love seeing the lighter spring layers start coming into play.
Kimono jackets (or cardigans, if you prefer) started making a splash on the street style circuit in early fall last year and just as they were a great piece to transition to the colder months, they’re perfect as we transition to warmer weather.
They look fantastic in a classic satin floral-print and even better when slightly sheer. You can find them in floor-length, thigh-length, or hip-length styles; vintage or brand new they’re all divinely feminine, and even a touch bohemian.
You can wear a kimono as you would any other jacket, though I find they look best for everyday over a simple shift dress with sandals or flats (or ankle boots if it’s still not quite warm enough) or paired with distressed denim and classic pumps.
You can find kimono jackets practically anywhere, from vintage stores to big box retailers, here are a few I’m inspired to purchase:
I love hearing your ideas so tell me – how would you style a kimono jacket?
