Hey y’all hey!
Happy Wednesday! I’m still feeling the buzz from my Madewell event this past weekend (see some snapshots and the recap here!) and have been rocking the tomboy-chic trend all week. Slouchy denim? Check. Perfectly worn-in tees? Double check. I absolutely love the effortlessness, ease, and sexiness that comes from dressing in a more boyish manner. I even have a client who has been looking to switch up her style to focus on a more casual aesthetic for the summer and we’ve found this style of dressing to be right up her alley!
What’s great about this trend is how simple it is to start dressing the part! Here are 5 essentials to help you master the effortless, cool, and sexy look of a chic tomboy – and the best part? Most of these items are already in your closet!
Slim, yet perfectly slouchy – boyfriend jeans have become a closet staple. Perfect when paired with heels, sneakers, flats, or sandals, they are the everyday jean that provides both comfort and style.
It’s amazing how versatile canvas sneakers really are – pair them with dresses, skirts, shorts, or your staple boyfriend jeans for an outfit that’s both smart and fresh.
Like the boyfriend jean, the boyfriend blazer is another closet staple. Throw this over a vintage tee and jeans or a easy tank dress for an effortless summer ensemble.
Accessories help make a look come together and a sporty hat is a must-have for any tomboy. It’s the perfect topper and a clever addition to your ensemble whether for a lazy Sunday brunch, late night cocktails with girlfriends, or a casual date night.
Quite possibly my favorite out all 5 essentials – the slub tee is made from a certain type of cotton that makes it soft, textured, and lightweight without being too sheer. This is the kind of shirt you can have in several colors and styles as you can literally wear it with anything and everything – dare I say it’s one of the ultimate closet essentials.
