If I Really Was at the Winter Olympics in Sochi

Hi everyone!

It’s Monday and I have a silly style post for you all put together in honor of the Winter Olympics and some fun DCT and I had last week playing a joke on our family and friends.

You all know DCT and I are travel bugs, so a few days before the Opening Ceremonies took place DCT decided he wanted to have a little Facebook fun and posted a status claiming he and I were off to Sochi to partake in the Winter Olympic festivities. I love a little Facebook humor, so I went along with it, and before we knew it friends and family were commenting to have a great time, be safe, bring back gifts, etc. etc. I even received a few texts from friends and family concerned about my safety. My mother also received several texts and calls from family members.

It was pretty hilarious and, of course, all in good fun. What was really surprising was how everyone thought me, of all people, who is probably the most active on social media than any of my friends and/or family members (tis the life of a blogger), would just up and fly to Russia for the Winter Olympics without mentioning anything, anywhere, prior to our “departure date”.

As I told one of my aunts, If this were real life I would’ve made at least 5 Facebook posts leading up to it and would most certainly have put together a blog post or two.

So just to keep the fun rolling, instead of posting my stand-by “what to wear” for Valentine’s Day, as well as keeping with this month’s post theme of refreshing you winter style. Here are some outfits I would wear if I really was attending the Winter Olympics in Sochi. 😉

Winter Olympics - Opening Ceremony

{Shop: Hat – Team USA // Sweater – Top Shop // Peacoat – J.Crew // Denim – Rag & Bone // Handbag – Fossil // Mittens – Monki // Scarf – Modcloth // Boots – DSW}

Go #TeamUSA! The Opening Ceremony is definitely all about showing pride for your country, and while I definitely wouldn’t be as flashy as Ralph Lauren’s outfits for the U.S. team – I’d still represent!

Winter Olympics - Events

{Shop: Bobsledding > Beanie – Patagonia // Coat – House of Fraser // Sweatshirt – Carhartt // Denim – TopShop // Handbag – Rebecca Minkoff // Sneaker Wedges – Vans // Skating > Faux Fur Hat – Oasis // Shearling Jacket – Warehouse // Turtleneck – Mango // Leggings – TopShop // Handbag – Rebecca Minkoff // Boots – Steve Madden // Skiing > Sweater – TopShop // Leggings – Amazon // Handbag – TopShop // Parka – Uniqlo // Snow Boots – Sorel}

For my favorite winter sports events – bobsledding, figure skating, and skiing/snowboarding – I would go for an overall sporty chic look, playing with all sorts of fun pieces from sneaker wedges and shearling jackets, to printed leggings and colorful coats.

Winter Olympics - Closing Ceremony

{Shop: Sweater – TopShop // Peacoat – Uniqlo // Gold Pants – J Brand // Boots – Sam Edelman // Satchel – TopShop // Gloves – Nic + Zoe // Beanie – River Island}

Finally for the closing ceremony, what would be better than rocking some gold pants to represent all the gold medals we’ve won! 😉

While it’s fun to dream, the closest I’ll be getting to Sochi is the cold and snow we’re experiencing this year in Chicago, haha! Are you keeping up with the Olympics? What would you wear to the games?

Hope you had a fantastic weekend! Thanks for reading!
