As fashion week come to a close something new and exciting is cresting on the horizon — the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target collaboration!
I’ve been following this collaboration from the moment it was announced and have counted down the days to September 15th (even though apparently some Targets were dropping the collection early…smh Georgia). I’ve been excited to see previous collections — Prabal Gurung was good and I still have a dress from the Jason Wu collaboration — But I’ve been really excited for this one, like so excited that I will be at Target when they open on Sunday. No shame in my game!
I’m sure you’ve seen pictures of the line (if not you can find the entire collection here), there are so many cool pieces that I want to snag from the leopard print blazer & skirt to the floral shirt dress to the ‘Boom’ print scarf and sweatshirt, and even some items from the men’s collection — how rad is that tiger shirt?!
With all this running through my head, I had to devise a game plan so I wouldn’t get lost and overwhelmed in the craziness. As this is my first time shopping a designer collaboration the day it launches, I figured I would set some ground rules for myself to *hopefully* ensure a successful shopping experience as I have no idea what to really expect. Feel free to use these tips for yourself should you be planning to deal with the craziness this Sunday!
1. Know your must have items.
Make a list of the items you definitely want prior to heading to the store and prioritize! That way once you get there focus on finding and securing those items first thing. Afterwards you can casually peruse the rest of the line without feeling overwhelmed or stressed.
2. Get there early!
As much as it pains me to wake up anytime before 9AM on a Sunday, getting up early and to the store first thing will help ensure you’ll get the items you want, especially if it’s a popular piece. Looking on the bright side of things, you’ll be super pumped having had a successful shopping excursion and you should be done just in time for Sunday brunch! #win!
3. Breathe. They’re just clothes.
We’ve all read stories about people getting a little cray cray when collaborations like these come out. People can get really irritated and territorial over their items to the point where unnecessary confrontations and fights break out. If you take anything away from these 3 simple tips, remember this — they’re just clothes. Say it with me, they’re just clothes. So when someone yanks an item that you were clearly looking at or accuses you of taking something from their basket, don’t shout and cause a scene. Just step back and remember, they’re just clothes.
Also remember — Karma is a b*tch and then tell that person to have a great day
If you’re not into battling the crowds they’ll also have the collection available online. However, do note the collection will probably land online anywhere from midnight to 3:00am and can go pretty quickly. Also, not every piece may be available online, one of your must haves may be in-store only!
Whether you check out the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection or not, I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! My apologies for the lack of posts this week, school has started again so I have to reorganize my schedule to accommodate for that. One day it will all be over. Haha!
Thanks for reading! Happy Friday!
