Euro-Invasion Day 3: Bad Durkheim Wurstmarkt

Hi there! As promised I’m slowly going to be updating the blog with pictures from our vacation so I can continue to relive the magic that was this trip, haha!

Our first big event, and what really kicked off the trip for us, was spending the day at the Bad Durkheim Wurstmarkt. This festival is famous for its celebration of local wines and is held in one of Germany’s largest wine growing regions. It’s been held in September for over 590 years and is known as the world’s largest wine festival as it attracts over 600,000 visitors annually. The Germans know how to throw a good festival, so you know we were in for a good time ;)

Not only were there over 150 local wines being poured (into rather large glasses might I add….hehe) but also a variety of native German fare (including bratwursts, schwank steaks, and amazing rotisserie chicken), carnival rides, fireworks, and the world’s largest wine barrel that can hold up to 44 million gallons of wine! I hope you enjoy the pictures below and if you’re ever in Germany in September I highly recommend trying to get to this festival :)

(these were their small glasses….)
